Lisa February 19 Letter (intro 2017 season)

Hi All:

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend and the lovely weather.  There’s
lots of information in this email to get the team organized for the season, so
please read carefully.

1.      Attached is the team roster.  Please review the information and email me with any corrections.

2.      Please make sure you have paid your dues.  Dues are $500 per season per
rower.  There is financial aid available.  Please contact Kathy Hudson for
details.  Dues can be paid two ways, either through this link

mailing a check, payable to GDS, to our Treasurer, Joel Abramson at 105 W.
Monroe Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22301.

3.      Please make sure you have paid your dues for food - $70.00 per rower.  This
should be paid by check made out to GDS Crew and mailed to Joel at the above
address.  Please do not pay this amount through the on-line link.

4.      Attached is an updated version of the GDS Crew Handbook.  Our regattas are
listed, as well as contact information for the Parent Board and coaches, and
helpful information about crew, clothing and the season.  You can also find a
copy on our website at hoppercrew.com.

5.      Forms and checks for the Spring Break trip are due to Kathy Hudson at GDS by March 1.  The trip is $840.00 payable to GDS.  Financial aid is available
through Kathy Hudson.  Forms can be found at

and need to be filled out and returned to Kathy.

6.      The on-line store is open, and will be open until March 6, 2017.  The link
for the on-line store is http://www.boathouseteamstores.com/georgetowndayschool.
 For varsity rowers ordering jackets the charge is $50 with the code for new
varsity rowers (i.e. rowers who were novices last year).  Instructions for using
the code:
Coupon code is GDSEarnedcrewjacket
 Coupon code must be the first thing entered upon arriving to the checkout
screen. Coupon code should be entered in the field “Have a coupon code to
redeem?” then click on the red “Apply code” button to have the discount
applied to the order. 
 Customer must order the Stevenson Weathershirt Windstopper jacket in order to
get the discount.
If you are a varsity rower who needs a replacement jacket, you will be charged
full price.  Please do not utilize the code.  Novice rowers are not eligible to
order jackets this year.  You will pay for your orders on the website.  All
orders will be shipped to Pat Widra, who will distribute the gear as it
arrives.

7.      Please contact me with any allergy and/or food sensitivity information so we can make sure your rower has appropriate food at regattas.  I will be sending a
survey to rowers via Survey Monkey to get preferences on food.  Please fill out
the survey promptly so we can bring the food you like!

8.      The link to Signup Genius will be sent around.  There are a couple of slots
left open.  If you can fill any of the slots that would be great.

9.      Our plan is to create a members only area on the HopperCrew website where
things like the roster and volunteers lists can be stored.  Once it is set up I
will send around the password.

10.     Mark your calendars for the Ergathon – Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the
Forum.  Pledge sheets will be circulated once practice starts.

11.     First Day of Practice – Monday, February 27, 2017 at 6:15 a.m. at GDS.
We have 35 rowers – 22 returning rowers and 13 novices.  We are off to a great
start for the season! GO HOPPERS!
