GDS Crew Annual Ergathon Fundraiser Is Tomorrow!

Happy Monday!
Please take a moment to MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the 2019 Ergathon taking place in the GDS High School forum tomorrow from 3:30-4:00! The Ergathon is the GDS Crew’s annual fundraiser, and funds are used to help send the team to rowing camp, to the Stotesbury Regatta in Philly, and to reduce the costs of rowing crew at GDS in order to make the sport more accessible to GDS students.
What’s an ergathon, you say? What’s an “ERG,” you say? WHAT’S CREW, you say?
An “erg” is short for an ergometer (see gif below). It is also called a rowing machine and can be used for a killer cardiovascular workout.

An “ergathon” is a challenge to see how many meters you can erg in a set amount of time.
[2019 GDS ERGATHON is set for 30 minutes between 3:30-4:00 in the forum]
Crew is a rowing sport in which rowers often row backwards, relying on a coxswain to steer the boat and motivate them. GDS competes in two special types of sculls called 8’s (8 rowers) and 4’s (4 rowers). (see gif below)
