The recommendation is to work out most days, i.e., aim for 1 or 2 days off only. Do the usual warm-up (ten minutes jogging/machines, stretching), and then get in 20-45 minutes of cardio most days, most days including 5-10 minutes of higher pace, i.e., aerobic threshold. Mix it up from day to day. And hit the weights 2 times a week if possible.
